Galena Trio from Spain

This trio provides a variety of Galena Specimens. The cubed piece is full of luster and shine. It reflects the sun almost as brilliantly as a mirror. The center piece is beautifully marbled with calcite inclusion throughout. The third piece in this trio has a lovely calcite crystal resembling a flower emerging from its top.
About Galena: Galena is a lead sulfide mineral with a chemical composition of PbS. Galena is very easy to identify. Freshly broken pieces exhibit perfect cleavage in three directions that intersect at 90 degrees. It has a distinct silver color and a bright metallic luster. Galena tarnishes to a dull gray. It is the main ingredient in our school No 2 lead pencils. In 2004, researchers at Washington University in St. Louis provided plausible evidence that "heavy metal snow" - which is most likely a combination of lead sulfide (galena) and bismuth sulfide - falls on the higher elevations of Venus. (Venus has an inhospitable environment where volcanoes vent superheated gases into the atmosphere. Sulfur and lead are among the gases erupted from the volcanoes on Venus. They remain in the gaseous phase until they are high enough in the atmosphere to condense.) Please not that due to its lead content Galena must be kept away from children or animals that may put it in their mouths.

In Meditation and Healing: Key Points: Transformation ~ Grounding ~ Healing ~ Protection Against Radiation and Electromagnetic Pollution ~ General Protection ~ Alchemical Self-Transformation ~ Courage ~ Compassion ~ Love ~ Enlightenment ~ Self-Acceptance

It is known as the “Stone of Alchemical Transformation”. Galena is a stone with the vibrational pattern of lead, which stimulates the process of alchemical self-transformation. It will bring one back into the initial state of a purified physicality. A wonderful stone for initiating the process of awakening.

Galena is an excellent tool in gaining insight. It promotes introspection as well as facing ones fears. It encourages compassion, love, tolerance and peace. Encourages self acceptance.

Mixed Agate Dream Coco Trio

These three little Dream Cocos are the perfect gift for yourself or for a loved one that is in pursuit of her/his dreams. They come from Soledade, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. While they are all Agate with clear and milky quartz druse, each one has a unique shape and composition. The smallest of the three is a beautiful little dome-shape on one side and an "almost" circle on the other. She has a tiny speck of hematite found inside. There is also a beautiful teardrop shaped dream coco with sparkling clear quartz druse and breathtaking outer pattern. And one cannot forget to mention the amazing cat's eye multicolored coco. Her milky quartz druse is home to a growing patch of hematite, combining the properties of agate, quartz and hematite. For more information about hematite read Hematite Properties.

About Dream Cocos: Dream Cocos are special little geodes that love to hangout with us as we are sleeping. They are similar to the Native American 'worry dolls" in that one can place ones worries inside the dream coco before going to sleep at night. The dream coco kindly helps to clear and cleanse the fears in our subconscious mind while we sleep. They are also wonderful for the ageless dreamer or those of us working with making our dreams into our realities. The dream coco has special properties to help us achieve our dreams. Before bedtime place the dream coco under your pillow or on your nightstand and look deeply into the center. Imagine your dreams or wishes in as much detail as possible. Then place those dreams inside your Dream Coco and goto sleep. The Dream Coco will work with your subconscious as you sleep to help us bring your dreams into your reality. They are wonderful companion "for those that be believe in the beauty of their dreams." Eleanor Roosevelt

About Geodes: Geodes are more or less spherical or ovoid shaped, hollow concretions that form inside cavities in sedimentary and igneous rocks. The term geode is derived from the Greek geoides, meaning "Earthlike", a reference to their rounded shape. Geodes have long been regarded as objects of curiosity and prized for their beauty. Geodes are known from many localities around the world with some of the most prolific sources including Brazil, Mexico, Namibia and the United States. In sedimentary rocks, the cavities in which geodes form are created by the dissolution of previously existing concretions that grew within soft, unlithified sediments. After the surrounding sediments lithified, the original concretions were dissolved and carried away by the action of acidic groundwater or hydrothermal solutions permeating the more resistant bedrock. In igneous rocks the cavities are created by gas bubbles, such as vesicles in basaltic lavas that become trapped and frozen in place as the host rock cools and solidifies.

As geologic conditions change over time, mineral laden ground water or hydrothermal solutions subsequently invade the hollow cavities and deposit minerals inside them, sometimes in the form of beautiful crystals and crystal druzes. The most common mineral found inside geodes is quartz in both crystalline and cryptocrystalline form (chalcedony, agate and jasper), followed by calcite. Other noteworthy minerals found in geodes include barite, celestite, dolomite, goethite, kaolinite, millerite, pyrite, hematite and sphalerite. The size, form and color of the crystals vary, making each geode unique.

Cubed Pyrite Trio

These beautiful little pyrites each come uniquely formed. Their cube formations are distinctive and pronounced. True to their common name "fool's gold" that shine brilliantly when placed in the sun. They are a denser mineral with a weighty feel. They are wonderful partners in yoga or meditation as well as great "pocket stones" to rub throughout your day. There are two distinct types of Pyrite, one with a very tiny crystalline or drusy structure and one with the more distinct cubic appearance. There are even some that exhibit a mixture of both types, known as Isis and Osiris Pyrite. These three are of the cubic iron pyrite variety.

About Pyrite: Pyrite derives its name from the Greek word for 'fire', because when you strike it against another rock, it gives off sparks and it causes a spark when it is hit with steel. The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, also known as fool's gold, is an iron sulfide with the chemical formula FeS2.

Trio of Natural Agate Slabs

These three slabs are made of natural agate. They reflect the tones of the Earth beautifully. Each one has unique forms and markings. One of them has a shape that resembles The Eye of Horus which is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health. And upon that very slab is found a marking that looks like a feather. The second piece has bold bands framing a lighter and more delicate shade of agate at the center. The middle agate's markings resemble a butterfly in flight. All of the three slabs let soft light pass through their lighter colored centers when held to the light.

They are wonderful stand-alone pieces as well as make lovely natural platforms for other crystals or pieces of artwork.

"Byzantine - The "Rubens Vase" - Walters 42562"
(Byzantine Empire) - Walters Art Museum:
Carved in high relief from a single piece of agate,
this extraordinary vase was most likely created
in an imperial workshop for a Byzantine emperor.
About Agate: The stone was given its name by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and naturalist, who discovered the stone along the shore line of the river Achates (Greek: Ἀχάτης) in present-day Sicily, sometime between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. Colorful agates and other chalcedonies were obtained over 3,000 years ago from the Achates River, now called Dirillo.

Agate is one of the most common materials used in the art of hard stone carving, and has been recovered at a number of ancient sites, indicating its widespread use in the ancient world; for example, archaeological recovery at the Knossos site on Crete illustrates its role in Bronze Age Minoan culture. Most agates occur as nodules in volcanic rocks or ancient lavas, in former cavities produced by volatiles in the original molten mass, which were then filled, wholly or partially, by siliceous matter deposited in regular layers upon the walls. Agate has also been known to fill veins or cracks in volcanic or altered rock underlain by granitic intrusive masses. Such agates, when cut transversely, exhibit a succession of parallel lines, often of extreme tenuity, giving a banded appearance to the section. Such stones are known as banded agate, riband agate and striped agate.

In Meditation and Healing: Agate is a stone of strength and courage, it tones and strengthens the mind & body by grounding and stabilizing emotions and physical energy. Agate helps one with self-acceptance and to see past the obscurities and find the truth. Its healing and cleansing qualities eliminate negative energy, soothing and calming the mind, body and emotions. Agate slabs in particular have the ability to evenly distribute the energy of other stones. When other rocks are placed on top of an agate slab the slab's vibration helps to regulate and evenly radiate the energies throughout the space.
Agate occurs naturally in many colors but is also often dyed brilliant bright colors. Chakras: Throat

Mini Animal Quartz Trio

Adorable Mini Natural Crystal Animal Trio in clear and rosy quarts from Brazil. These three are the definition of small but mighty. Whale totem represents:
Breath ~ Depth ~ Destiny ~ Emotional Awareness ~ Higher Consciousness ~ Emotional Rebirth ~
Empathic Understanding ~ Nurture and Devotion ~ Balance ~ Appreciation for Beauty, (especially movement and music)

The whale symbolizes emotional creativity, well-being, nurturing as well as emotional depth. Those who are magnetized by whale energy will tend to be incredibly deep in sensitivity. The depth of feeling whale-totem-people endure can be overwhelming. If you are extraordinarily affected by the emotions of others, or your own emotions are so intense as to cause discomfort, whale totem can help. From Native American to Islam, the whale is featured prominently in ancient lore. The prophet Jonah is a classic passage in the Bible. Whales ask us to embrace the unknown, and that's precisely why they are so connected to the emotional depths of the oceans.
The whale can facilitate emotional clarity, and help us navigate through the often ambiguous and confusing seas of emotion. Whales themselves are incredibly nurturing; we see this in how they raise their young as well as their close-knit connection to others in their community herds or pods. Whales, and those with whale totems have a natural affinity for helping, especially promoting well-being within their community. People who are attracted to the whale often feel devoted to a greater cause, and although they may struggle with their own personal emotions, they tend to naturally conjure healing powers towards others in emotional trauma. In many sects of Native wisdom, the whale is symbolic of the beginning, the creation of all life on earth as we know it.

About Dolphin Totem:
Understanding ~ Joy ~ Playfulness ~ Gentleness ~ Harmony ~ Intelligence ~ Contentment
Feminine ~ Community ~ Resurrection ~ Benevolence ~ Power ~ Integrity ~ Brave ~ Protector ~ Breath
In ancient Greece, the dolphin is a compatriot of both the god Apollo (sun) and the goddess Aphrodite (moon). Both lunar symbolism and solar symbolism are represented in the dolphin. The term delphi is noteworthy as the Greek word for dolphin is delphis and its derivative, delphys means womb. This incorporates more lunar and feminine attributes to the dolphin scene.

Christian symbolism conveys the dolphin as an aspect of Christ. Dolphins seen in Christian art are symbolic of resurrection. Some artists utilize the protective, stabilizing, compassionate demeanor of the dolphin as a message of wellbeing to the pure of heart. Some artistic renditions speak of dolphins transporting the spirits of the faithful to Christ's side upon leaving their physical bodies. This dolphin meaning is mimicked in ancient Greece where legend tells us the dolphin was responsible for carrying the souls of the dead to the Islands of the Blessed.

Pirate lore also hails the dolphin as a symbol of protection. Legend writes dolphin sightings were often exaggerated into incredibly fantasies of mermaids. Sailors often understood the spirit of mermaids lived in the heart of the dolphin, and ancient stories of the sea refer to dolphins metamorphosing into beautify sea maidens (and mermaids) if seen under just the right conditions.

About Dinosaurs Totem: Triceratops, A Cretaceous Herbivore
Connection to Rhinoceros ~ Understanding of the predator-prey relationship ~ Completion of cycles ~ Ability to stand ones ground ~ Understanding Boundaries ~ Ancient wisdom ~ Willpower ~ Survival ~ Bravery

Triceratops, Dinosaur represents ancient wisdom from the primordial, returning to the Earth and transformation within. A dinosaur also represents facing our fears. They remind us that when we turn to face our fears and start walking towards them the diminish in size, power and stature.

Mixed Blue Kyanite Trio

These three Kyanite are as unique as they are lovely. Each one is a different shade of kyanite blue. The larger of the three fits comfortably in ones palm. The curve located on one of the sides makes him a perfect stone to hold during meditation. The smaller two's sizes make them great pocket stones. Pocket stones are stones one can carry in a pocket and rub throughout the day. (If used as pocket stones please be mindful of the other items in your pocket as they can be broken by harder objects) The deep blue hues also make these little ones fabulous for jewelry designs.

About Kyanite: Kyanite derives its name from the Greek word kuanos also referred to as "kyanos", meaning deep blue. Kyanite specimens have a variable hardness. The long crystals have a Mohs hardness of about 4.5 to 5 if tested parallel to the length of a crystal and a hardness of 6.5 to 7 if tested across the short dimension of a crystal. The mineral was once commonly called "disthene" which means "two strengths".

The intensely different shades of blue, or even multiple shades with color zoning in a single crystal is beautiful. The color of Kyanite, combined with its well-formed crystals, make this mineral appreciated and admired.

In Meditation and Healing: This stone facilitates meditation. Blue Kyanite aligns all of the chakras, clears the meridian pathways and fortifies the subtile bodies making it quite valuable to use at the beginning of meditation. Kyanite is known as a stone of attunement. It is good for communication, mental awareness and stimulates psychic awareness. Excellent when used for lucid dreaming and dream recall. "It restores Qi to the physical body and promotes a calming effect to the whole being. With its blue and indigo energies, Kyanite is particularly stimulating to the Throat and Third Eye Chakras, expanding communication and psychic awareness on all levels." [Melody, 363-364]

The Throat Chakra is the "voice" of the body. One of its functions is to be a pressure valve that allows the energy from the other chakras to be expressed. If it is blocked, or out of balance, it can affect our physical and emotional health as well as affect all of our other chakras. When the throat chakra is in balance and flowing freely, it allows for the expression of our truth, thoughts and feelings. We are able to communicate our ideas, beliefs, and emotions, honestly and share our personal truth with the world. We become reconnected with the natural rhythm and flow of the vital life energies that govern our bodies and emotions. The energy that springs upward from the lower chakras can continue its path enabling free expression and natural release. The beautiful shades of blue also provide a calming of the mind and thoughts.

Lapis Lazuli Egg Duo with Pyrite Inclusions

These two beauties are from the ancient mines in Afghanistan. These are the perfect wedding gifts as the stone, Lapis promotes fidelity and protection between partners. (The same is true for business partnerships.) They are used for protection from negative emotions like envy and fear. These stones assist in balancing yin yang energies, allowing one to connect with both the male and female strengths within.

The egg shape is also symbolic of new beginnings, creation, fertility and possibilities. Read Egg Symbology and Easter for more detailed information. Both of these eggs are a beautiful blue, one is deeper and the other a more sky blue. They both have multiple pyrite inclusions throughout. Lapis Lazuli with pyrite inclusions is the most prized form. While Lapis can be found in several locations throughout the world, quality pyrite-included specimens are only found in Afghanistan.

Historically: Lapis-lazuli was highly prized in ancient times. The earliest published use of the name lapis-lazuli appears to be from 1636 by Anselmus Boetus de Boodt in Gemmarum et Lapidum Historia. page 273. The name is said to be derived from the Latin 'Lapis' and the persian 'Lazhward', meaning Blue. The name should be pronounced 'Lap-is Laz-u-lee'. Lapis-lazuli is one of the very first gemstones mined. Ancient mines in Afghanistan have been worked, according to one resource, since 6000 BC. Some of these mines are worked today using the same techniques utilized thousands of years ago. These two beauties come from one of these ancient mines. The first stable blue colorant used in the ancient world came from lapis lazuli, a semiprecious stone mined in Afghanistan. The Egyptians prized lapis, combining it with gold to adorn the tombs of the pharaohs, or powdering it into eye shadow for Cleopatra. They used Lapis Lazuli as a symbol of Truth. The Egyptian Book Of The Dead describes a monthly ceremony using a Lapis Lazuli carved in the shape of an eye and decorated with Gold. Egyptians also used the gem to create a dye for clothing and was extremely popular as a carved scarab and many pieces of jewelry have been found in the pyramids with Lapis stones.

King Solomon was given a Lapis ring by an Angel which enabled him to control legions of demons. He used this powerful ring to build his great temple. Originally called Sapphire, During the middle ages in Europe, powdered Lapis was used to create a distinctive blue pigment known as ultramarine. This brilliant blue paint was used in many masterpieces and to decorate the hand written manuscripts of the day.

In Meditation and Metaphysics: Lapis Lazuli is a most powerful stone and should be used with care during meditation. When working or meditating with Lapis Lazuli, it can bring matters more clearly to the mind. Lapis Lazuli is highly effective at opening the Third Eye or 6th Chakra in meditation but should only be used this way by an experienced practitioner.

As a healer, Lapis Lazuli is said to aid in overcoming insomnia, reduce fevers, help with diseases of the blood or aid in repairing broken bones. Also said to impart physical strength to the arms and legs, can be used to calm frayed nerves, provides relief from pain, and helps one overcome melancholy. Excellent stone to use for relief of migraine headaches when placed over forehead and combined with special breathing mediation.
